- גַּרגּוּתָא, גַּרְגִּיתָא, גַּרְגְּרִיתָאf. (= גלגליתא, v. גַּלְגְּלָא, cmp. גַּרְגַּר) wheel-work, well for irrigating fields. Ber.58a; B. Bath.91b (prov.) אפי׳ ריש ג׳וכ׳ (Ber. ed. גרגי׳, Ms. M. גדגיד׳, corr. acc., v. Rabb. D. S. a. l.) even a superintendent of the well (cmp. בַּיָּיר) is appointed in heaven. B. Kam.27b. B. Mets. 103a if one says, ‘Lend me ההיא ג׳ the use of this well, he may restore ; בי ג׳ ‘a place (in the field) for a well,he may go on digging wells until he strikes one that suits him. B.
